Welcome to the Lion's Den

Fearless entertainers who will play to win

About This Blog

This is a fan blog of the Indian Premier League team - Chennai Super Kings

Bloggin' after ages

I dunno if apologies will suffice, but my internet connection was not working for all of last week.As a result, I didn't sign in and blah blah...

The matches since CSK vs MI

Oooh God, Chennai Super Kings have started the much feared downward slide. Not coincidentally, the slide has come after Hayden and Hussey left our team to play for Australia.I don't think anyone could have imagined how disastrous it was going to be.Chennai Super Kings seem to be greatly weakened and we have lost the chance to dominate the IPL.

Of course, a win in the next match will make me eat my words about the momentum and all.Who knows, these two losses may be the only ones for CSK this season.Twenty20 seems to be the bane of any cricket analyst, and for an amateur like me,predicting results is a nightmare.

New Contest

Ok let me announce the first contest for all of you fans.I am going to start a slogan writing contest. All of you are welcome to send in slogans for the Chennai Super Kings to my email address, and I'll put them up in a poll. The one which gets the most votes will be the winner. The last date for sending entries is May 13th.The poll will be put up on 14th and it will close on 20th.The winning entry will be put up on this blog.

The prize

As this is just the first contest, there is no cash or kind prize for the winner.Instead I 'll be giving five link backs from this blog.Of course, readers are also invited to give their suggestions to make the contest better.

Chennai Super Kings win a tight match

Not as if it is news to any of you guys, but Chennai Super Kings have kept us proud by winning yesterday's encounter against Mumbai Indians. It was the first match that I had seen of the Chennai Super Kings, and it was absolutely awesome.IPL is definitely more entertaining than ICL, which does not have the talent to compete with IPL.One more thing I liked was that the cheer leaders were modestly dressed, and I could see the match with my parents without any discomfort.

Matthew Hayden was absoutely brilliant. After watching him play, I thought that we were lucky that that he was on our side.Other players are good too - Hussey, McCullum have made tons. But the sheer innovation of Hayden left me amazed.Who else could reverse sweep Shaun Pollock (If I am not mistaken) for four.Even Sachin was impressed. And what about that cheeky shovel??? Mind blowing.

Raina is fast developing into an extremely valuable player. The way he matched Hayden shot for shot was absoultely brilliant.Dhoni too did not disappoint in the end.

But what I was disappointed about was the poor show by Parthiv Patel.I feel that the cap on no. of foreign players has reduced the quality of the cricket.Surely Fleming could do better than Parthiv.

I did not see our bowling for two reasons -

1. I was sure that we would win with 208 on the board and Mumbai without Sachin

2. I don't like to see bowling

Contrary to my expectation, Mumbai Indians gave us quite a close call.Sanath Jayasuriya was expected to cause some trouble, but Uthappa and Bhajji added to it.All said and done, we managed to win, and that's the only thing that counts.

The Hindu reports that Goni was responsible for restricting the run-scoring of the Mumbai Indians. All I can say is well done, we need more like you m'boy.

Unlucky, Me :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

I am sure you guys were wondering "IPL is here, where the hell is Ganesh???!!!".Yes, I was absent due to a complex combination of circumstances in which I had to write three entrance exams in the last 5 days.As I result I missed all IPL matches till yesterday when I saw the match between Deccan Chargers and Delhi DareDevils, which the latter of course one.Click here to see the scorecard of the first match.(I know that almost everyone must have seen it, but I am seeing it only now).

Today is the second match, the one between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.I just checked out the website of the Mumbai Indians. It is mighty impressive. But one thing that made me go lol was that Sachin's cartoon is portrayed to be the tallest.

Robin predicts that Chennai Super Kings will have a comprehensive win.Although it is tempting, the fact remains that Twenty20 matches are completely unpredictable.

Here is the obvious unpredictability order.

Test Matches < 50-50 < 20-20

When Zimbabwe can beat Australia on their day in a T20 match, I think all these comparisons are really pointless.

However, with Sachin not playing for Mumbai Indians, I think we are really gonna kick some ass.
